The mention of Europe brings to mind the quaint streets filled with taxis, cyclists and pedestrians. He does not first you think fuel protests, the exorbitant cost of fuel, and rising food costs. Do not Europeans walk everywhere?
The United States is not the only country that has experienced heartburn, in recent years on rising fuel prices. European countries also experienced an increase in fuel prices. It proves that we truly live in a global economy as the dollar weakens, the fuel becomes more expensive for everyone. This is because the fuel is traded in dollars. So how is the rising price of fuel Europe affecting Europeans?
More recently, Europeans have seen an increase in food prices. Despite the price of potatoes down the price of chips (a favorite of British infamous fish and chips) is increased. When this question has been studied, they found that even if potatoes are cheaper, higher fuel prices in Europe has led to higher food prices.
As the United States, European citizens have worked hard to change their gas to energy-intensive lifestyles. Carpool, or as they call it, car sharing has become a necessity for many. And like Americans, many of whom do more cycling and walking to work if they live close enough. Some are even finding jobs closer to their homes to fight against rising fuel prices. Despite what Americans think of Europeans, they do not really walk anywhere. They also need fuel and this has caused disgruntled citizens in all nations.
Europe has had its share of protests against rising prices fuel. Fuel Protests have been staged across Europe as people blocked roads and waterways, crying for relief of rising fuel prices. Protesters in Plymouth, England, was led carts 10-15 miles per hour at a 9 mile stretch of road. Some demonstrators chose to emphasize their point by driving a horse and cart.
There is no question: the increase in fuel prices Europe is as big a problem there as here in the United States.
