car share cornwall

For some people driving is purely a practical need. One person may only have a car because they wouldn’t be able to get to work any other way. If they could walk or catch a bus, they would be quite happy not to own a car at all.

For other people the mere act of driving is enjoyable enough to warrant owning a car. In couples where both partners drive, they will often share the driving if they are travelling long distance. Yet in other situations you will tend to find one partner does the majority of the driving simply because they like it that way.

Of course a lot depends on the type of car you have as well. If you have a brand new top of the range car – no matter what the make or model happens to be – you are very likely to enjoy taking it for a spin on a regular basis.

But supposing you have a beaten up old car that is forever breaking down? That isn’t likely to give you a lot of pleasure. Every time you take it out you will be wondering whether it will get you home again without something going wrong!

The degree to which you enjoy driving might also depend on where you live. The very notion of driving for pleasure doesn’t conjure up congested roads and traffic jams, does it?

That is why many people enjoy driving a lot more when they are away on holiday. If you live in the middle of a town where it is always a problem to park, you might find your opinion of driving alters when you head off on holiday.

Many roads in the countryside in areas like the Lake District and Cornwall are a joy to drive along. Even the average family car will be nicer to drive in these circumstances than it would be back at home.

Driving is also about getting out and about and getting some much needed fresh air. Many people would say there is nothing better than winding down the windows in the car if the weather permits.

Getting behind the wheel of a car might just be a necessary evil for some people, but given the right circumstances it can be very enjoyable and relaxing. Often it is the demands of traffic that cause the stress, rather than the driving itself, but provided you have the right car insurance there is no reason why you shouldn’t make the effort to get out and about a bit more.

Just think – you could drive out into the countryside with a picnic in the boot if you fancy it. Now wouldn’t that be worth driving for?
