Can 1 person drive in the carpool HOV lane? 10 pts best answer!?
I live in Arizona, and while commuting to school I noticed that the freeway carpool signs state “2+ persons only”. Then towards the bottom of the sign, it also includes “7am-9am” and “3pm-7pm”. So if I am the only person in the car, and i’m driving in the carpool lane at 12:00pm I can’t get pulled over and ticketed, right? Aren’t I exempt from a citation since the sign doesn’t mention 12pm? Also, isn’t the carpool lane free for anyone to use on the weekends? Thanks.
Carpool lanes are restricted to the times on the sign. In your case between 7-9 AM and 3-7 PM or “rush hour” so anytime you drive in that lane outside of those times your OK. Weekends usually aren’t restricted but check the sign to see what days it states.
