
Haywards Heath is about forty miles from London and twelve miles from Brighton. With a population of about twenty three thousand, most commute to work. The town is conveniently located, as it is only fifteen minutes from Gatwick airport. Its railway is a major part of the Brighton main line, and is a very quick way to get to Brighton.
The town is a modern community with a very complimentary combination of modern and medieval houses. It is also noted for its plant fair which is held annually in April.
Borde Hill is one of the greatest gardens in the country. Located right near the centre, this lovely estate is on two hundred acres, with seventeen acres dedicated to the gardens. These beautifully planted and maintained gardens are positioned to appear as rooms of color dedicated to different flower types and colors. The Borde hill house is a fantastic Tudor style mansion built in fifteen ninety eight, and wonderfully maintained.
Bannister’s cattle market is renowned and was the largest in the United Kingdom, but unfortunately closed in nineteen ninety eight in order to open a super market. However, there are plenty of shops to fulfill all of your needs.
Locally, there are several schools. It also has many parks for the kids to enjoy playgrounds, gardens and tennis, just to name a few. There are many walking trails and paths to explore. As well as a local thirty meter swim and dive pool.
Each year in September it celebrates a town day including events and fireworks.
Haywards Heath has two nature reserves. There are opportunities for horse back riding, sailing, windsurfing and more. There are several golf clubs and several horse tracks near by.
All in all, it is a wonderful place to live or visit away from the city, but within a close distance and easy access.
