Commuting to work by bicycle?
I am thinking of buying a bike to use for commuting to work, never done it before, so will need to build up the use on the bike first so I dont keel over on the first day! Please could you recommend a good quality, comfortable bike for a lady that wont break the bank. Many thanks.
Thank you all very much for your help and support. I think I will go and try them out. At the moment I see myself only as a fairweather biker, but I do hear that you can ‘catch the bug’ and end up doing it all year round.
Just to add to the already excellent answers. Remember there is a big difference between cycling in the summer, when it is light, not too windy and mainly dry, and cycling in the depths of winter. I do it all year round but you have to be committed, and have a bike set up for it – mudguards, decent lights, puncture resistant tyres.
