What type of bike for 6 mile commute?
Can anyone recommend a good bike for me? Commute is 20% urban city street, 50% Street suburb and country, 30% road. 6 miles each way. I need to be able to carry a laptop, not sure it will be a backpack or saddle bag. I want a bike make and model. Thank you!
Go hybrid with a rack and rear for saddle bags (panniers.) They'll be handy for lots of stuff. Very horse comfortable with something on your back. Fit is first so be very careful to get a bike size just for you. Your local bike shop is the best place to check this out. Just for fun, learn about the potential for rust from bolts and handlebars. I was stung on this issue before. Looks great when you buy it. Six months later, the rust starts to show up. It is unforgivable to market a bike in the range of $ 400 as rust too quickly. Mine is a Raleigh.
