Moving to Seattle area. What town would be best for us?

My family and I are planning to move to the Seattle area within the next year or two for our jobs. We’re a small family on a tight budget. I would like to find a nice area, safe for our kids to ride bikes, easy (or fairly easy) commute to Seattle. Any town under 30,000 people is preferable. Our budget for a house is about $200K. I’ve checked out Edmonds and Lynnwood. I really like those but the housing seems really high priced… any other suggestions?

You have your choice. There are a number of places, all within an easy commute of the city. North in the Bellevue area. East in the area of Issaquah. South anywhere toward Tacoma. Personally, I live on the west side of the sound, in Silverdale. MY preference for a family where bucks count and you get the most for what you spend is WEST across the sound. Below is a map link showing my location. There are MANY areas which might fit your desires. North near Everett. South toward Tacoma. East toward Issaquah. And then HERE on the Kitsap Peninsula 35 miles west and a ferry ride away. The ferry ride is worth the extra cost of the ferry to cross the Sound and the houses are MUCH cheaper. Zoom the aerial view in the second link and you can ALMOST make out my roof in amongst the trees…
