Are you ready for the Aerorider where you live?

Recently a respondant shared information about the Aerorider and a companion product, The Sunrider. The former has electric assist and is primarily meant for commuting. The Sunrider doesn’t have electric assist and is meant for sports and recreation in flat terrain. Because of the growing in interest in alternative transportation, co-founder Bart de Wert states that “I’m seeking a way to get the Aerorider in serial production,” and says that “At the moment we don’t take new individual orders for the Aerorider. But you still can order a Sunrider. (price inc. transportation to the nearest main international airport is USD 7250 at the current exchange rate).”

Is this a product that would interest you? I live in Southern California, and this would interest a lot of commuters that I know.

I’m definitely ready! (except for the money part) *lmao*

I’m also waiting eagerly to see how the technology can be improved (eg. rowing recumbent bike). If you can do 80 kph just using your legs, imagine how fast you could go if you could use your upper body as well.

I see the potential for a velomobile becoming an integral part of developing a “sustainable city / highway / flying car”. But I won’t go into detail in case I actively begin development on a prototype one day.

I prefer the Aerorider to the Sunrider, but I guess the market in North America is not ready for it yet. And it costs a lot more than $7250 (almost double) because of the totally enclosed shell, features like a windshield wiper, headlights / taillights / blinkers and the electric drive assist. It is built for commuting, not so much for sport.

Yet it is still seen as a toy in North America, unfortunately. Elsewhere in the world they are used as taxi cabs.

If Fred Flintstone drove a pickup truck, this is the truck he would have driven!
