Child Endangerement – 4 yrs old, 28 lb, no car seat, front paassenger seat , riding on someone else’s lap.
My ex and I have share custody. Everytime he picks him up he always put our son in a front passenger seat with no car seat. I asked him nicely recently to put our son in his car seat at all time. Last night he picked him up and put him on the lap of his new girlfriend! I was so mad. When I confronted him with child endangerement, he got mad and saying that I didn’t put him in a car seat either when i drop him off from my apartment door to my club house which literally feet away and the speed limit is 10 miles/hr. Beside that, I ALWAYS put my son in his car seat in the back seat when I travel with him. How do I enforced this to my ex to make sure that he always put our son safety first?
he picks up my son every night at my apartment complex’s club house which is only feet away. I’m not being hyprocrite – i just thought it was different from driving without car seat for 50 feet than 10 miles++
well, mom, you pretty much negated your argument with him when you admit to not putting your child in the car seat to go to the club house – even at 10 mph he can still get hurt – and it is still the law – so from now on, even on that trip – put him in his seat.
Next time he drives off with your son not in his car seat, you contact 911 and have them pull him over letting them know the route he will take home. A ticket for child endangerment in the car and a heavy fine will teach him a lesson.
