car share miami
We are going to Miami for vacation, which areas are safe to stay and affordable closer to south beach?

Also, do we need to rent a car, 70% of the trip would involve hanging at the south beach or Miami beach, however we would like to take a break and do some sightseeing to sea parks or alligator parks.

Is it possible to take cabs and visit such places. Also I have read, that parking can be quite crazy and people have their rented cars stolen from parking lots. And moving around the city by taxi can be a quite a hassle as most of the drivers speak only spanish, and we dont know spanish. Is the situation that bad there as far as transportaion goes…please local miami residents share your views.

thanks

I have been to south beach many times and I would not get a rental car. The cabs will take you where you need to go. As far as the language barrier most of the cab drivers speak english. However, they do have pretty thick accents most of the time. As far as the hotels, collins ave would be the safest. Of course all of this depends on how much money you would like to spend on a hotel. Just remember the cheaper you go the worse part of town you will be in!

Good Luck and have fun!!!
