Driving across the country during summer … lot of gas?

This summer, my friend and I are traveling from London to Los Angeles Ontario. I really thought about it from us and try to stop as possible. We both drive so we'll share drive. My estimates to about 36-40 hours going non-stop. My question is how much gas it would take to drive there and back. Fair amount means someone used to the trip from coast to another without sight seeing. I know that many plays in, type of car, gas prices blah blah blah. I just want a point where I can base my calculations off. I have a 2000 Cavalier if this helps at all

Under Article below, you should get about 28 mpg on the highway with your Cavalier. Mapquest gives mileage of 2,400 miles journey. So you'll need 86 gallons. Simply the figure right side for a distance of 2,500 miles and 26 mpg journey. This means that nearly 97 gallons for the trip. way. Figure about 200 gallons of a gas. Around my area (Northwest Indiana) gas is $ 1.89 a gallon. As you can see I budget of about $ 400 U.S. for a round trip costs gas. If I can is there any reason you are driving to the flight? Included in the cost of gas, the wear and the food drive, it can be less expensive and much faster than the car to beat. But I do not know the reason for your conduct. Shame you do not have more time to make stops along the road. I Good luck and welcome to the United States. still sounds like a great trip. You will be surprised by the sights you will see during your trip. Part of your planning My suggestion is to cross the Rocky Mountains during the day. Safer and much better to see the views of the mountain. Apply Rain-X on your windows before your trip. Get a set of clip-on sunglasses to go over your ordinary sunglasses. really helps when you're driving in the sun. Drink plenty water. I would like to bring a cooler. Eat small meals to keep your blood sugar plant and to sleep. Bring a pillow to put behind your back. Most cars have very little little support back especially Chevys. I use a Thermo-Rest inflatable back padding. See last URL.
