Travel by car from Toronto to Victoria, BC?

Please share your experienced and what hotels to stay on the way and what to avoid and what must do things on the way. Is it possible to travel within Canada only? Thanks in advance.

done the Vancouver to Toronto trip four times now by car so can offer some insight. Your drive time is about 55 hours however you want to dice that up. Would suggest travel by day and easy enough to find lodging “on the fly” near any large town or city. You can certainly do the whole trip in Canada!! Trans-Canada Highway… Follow that little green maple leaf all the way thru northern ontario and it carries you thru winnipeg, regina, calgary and on into vancouver and by ferry to victoria. Cant miss it really, you dont even need a map.

Suggestions, try not to drive at nite especially thru northern ontario and the mountain parks (banff, yoho and glacier) as lots of big wildlife near the roads and that is your biggest danger at nite. Try to start out early morning Calgary and you will make Vancouver by nightfall. That allows you to see the most spectacular part of the country during the day.

When you reach Kamloops you can go down Hwy#5 to Vancouver (expressway) which from there is about 3 hours. OR if you want to see more spectacular scenary and have a couple extra hours continue on Hwy#1 west out of kamloops which is the Fraser River Canyon route to Vancouver.

along the way; terry fox’s memorial outside thunder bay, regina rcmp museum, drumheller alberta..(royal tyrell dinosaur museum) Calgary.. maybe stampede time (mid-July)… do go off the road a bit in Banff and visit the actual Banff townsite.
Lake Louise. etc.. Not much between Bannf and the BC border or for the first few hours into BC.. Its all park. Make sure your gas is topped up going out of Calgary which will take you to Golden on the other side of the parks.
