car sharing

Are you looking for a cheaper way to drive around town? Do you live in a city and don’t drive enough to justify the expense of owning, licensing, insuring and parking a car?

Car sharing is a revolution in personal transportation.

Many city dwellers simply don’t drive enough to justify the expense and hassles of owning a car – yet can’t give up the freedom of driving a car when they want to.

Car Sharing provides flexible wheels for an urban lifestyle. It’s instant-access to a network of cars throughout the city, 24 hours-a-day, paying-per-trip, without commitment or inconvenience:

• as EASY as hailing a cab,
• the FREEDOM of your own car,
• as AFFORDABLE as a latte, and
FASTER than renting

Car sharing programs are in place in many cities throughout Europe, North America and Australia, serving millions of members.

Benefits

Convenient – a car when you need one
Practical - reduces number of cars in the city
Environmental – each car share vehicle replaces 4 to 8 privately held cars reducing car pollution and improving air quality
Low cost – pay only for the hours you drive; a fraction of the cost of owning a car
Carefree – no maintenance; no servicing; no parking hassles; no cleaning

How it Works

1. Reserve by phone or online (advance notice varies by vendor. Consult individual websites for details.)

2. Unlock the car with your personal card or key

3. Drive away

4. Return to a specified carshare location before your reservation time expires

5. Leave car as clean as you found it

The carshare company owns and insures all its cars, which are parked at convenient locations around town. You pay only for the hours you’ve had the car. Gas, oil and car maintenance are paid by the company; members are issued a company credit card for these costs. If the car is already booked, members either have to take an alternate car, or wait until the car they usually drive is available.

“Get online” with a car sharing network and you’ll get convenient access to a fleet of vehicles in your city – and pay only when you use them.
