Unpaid, required training on days off?
my husband works commission only and every month he is required to attend training out of state,on his scheduled day off, in company attire, and is expected to drive without any compensation whatsoever. He, and a few others, do carpool to these training sessions to lessen fuel cost. Every absence counts as an “occurance”, and 6 occurances lead to termination. To top it off, he is unaware of the training dates until a max of 3 days prior. Is this legal?
sorry… we are in south carolina. and my husband works for a large retailer.
It depends on your state and since this was not provided, it is hard to answer your question correctly.
I would suggest contacting your State Dept. of Labor.
