Where should we live in Cleveland?
My husband and I think the move to Cleveland to Akron. I work in downtown Cleveland (near the Galleria) and works in Akron u. We have a friend who lives in Lakewood that he would carpool with from time to time, so somewhere not too far from the road from that would be great. I love Little Italy and Coventry, but I'm not sure … We would like somewhere with a lot of things – art galleries, restaurants, bars, shops … and preferably a station too fast. we will be renting and can spend about $ 750 in rent, a little more would be allowed. THANKS!
With your husband working in Akron, consider easy access to highways and the ease of traveling downtown. Tremont or apartments downtown, perhaps to provide easier and faster access to I-77. East 4th Street / Euclid Ave. apartments would start at 525 $ Plus about $ 100 for parking. http://www.east4thstreet.com/home.php http://www.east4thstreet.com/properties.php # East 4th would be difficult to beat if you are looking for an exciting neighborhood. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/08/realestate/commercial/08fourth.html It is possible that you could find an apartment affordable in the warehouse district as well. http://www.warehousedistrict.org/district/ You can use the trolleys downtown free to go to work, so you have one car. Being so close to both the Tower of the city and right on the Healthline, you would have no trouble getting any where in Cleveland, Little Italy and Coventry. You could shop regularly West Side Market. A monthly pass would cost only RTA $ 85. If you add up the cost of driving a car, even on the races, the savings could offset much of the cost of the pass, especially if gasoline prices back to recent highs. Tremont could be as cheap as Coventry, and allow bars, restaurants, galleries, etc. would be much Tremont closer to your husband's carpool friend in Lakewood and provide better access highway, far more Coventry and Little Italy. http://www.restoretremont.com/ http://www.pluggedincleveland.com/apartments_for_rent/tremont_ohio/ Have you considered looking at condos? Even without the new credit to buyers, which may be extended, a condo on an after tax could cost you less than renting, even including the maintenance fee! Many condos are very cheap right now, in Lakewood and elsewhere. There are at least worth taking a calculator and call a few real estate agents. BOL!
