exiting carpool lanes, crossing double yellow lines, san diego?
recently they extended the carpool lanes on 5 north in san diego but failed to install signs warning of no exits or when you can next exit. Ahead of me I could see the carpool lane ended just before my exit (Manchester) but there isn’t enough space to cross 5 lanes safely so I had to cross the double yellow lines to cross to make my exit and of course the highway patrol pulled me over. Court was on 8/10, but changed online to 10/10. Anyone in/has been in similar situation, what was the outcome please advise? thanks La Jolla
I don’t think Caltrans is required to post signs about next exits. I know someone in similar situation; he was told he should have exited thru the broken white lines and taken the next freeway exit past his desired exit.
