How to reward a carpool driver?
Because of a transit strike in our area, many people have to carpool. While many drivers take advantage of the situation and charge vast amounts of money from passengers (which is illegal), a lady who drives me (and goes out of her way as well) refuses to accept any payment for her services.
What could I do instead to show her how much I appreciate her kindness?
Send her a gift card to someplace she likes to go – the coffee shop, book store, etc.
Also, be attentive to anything else she says – perhaps she has kids and needs a sitter one evening, or some other service you could do for her, either now or when the strike is over.
I’m carpooling with a guy, and just paying him what my bus pass would have cost, but when people refuse payment, you have to get creative.
