Is there any type of public transportation that I can take from Sacramento to SF?
I will be working in San Francisco and am new to the area, but will be living in Sacramento, is there a bus line, or train that I can take to get back and forth to work, or a carpool system that is available, or could I possibly do a park and ride,(for instance driving to a certain trainstop or bus stop and then taking the bus or train for there? Any info would help. Thanks
i do this every year and it has proven to be most reliable and least expensive.
from valley station in sac take the amtrak to emeryville. in emeryville there will be a small bus waiting to take passengers to S.F it is right there in the lot. there is a bus for every train arrival. price for that is included in your fare already. it does not do other pick ups just different drop off locations in S.F depending on how many people are on the bus it takes anywhere from 30-40 minutes to reach the final stop which is cal train station.
there is a dining car and it is a nice trip. cost is 19.00
taking bart from richmond is only good if you want to get off in san bruno or further down the peninsula. but to go to S.F. itself then the emeryville is the way to go
the greyhound route is so uncomfortable and boring. at least on the train you can bring your laptop a book a drink food playing cards etc. (there are seats with tables and electrical outlets as well
