Best Chicago suburb to stay in for commute to city?
My hubby and I are looking to spend some time in Chicago for a mini-vacation. We would like to stay in a suburb with a train link to the city. Which suburb is best for this? We will be coming south from Milwaukee and don’t want to drive too far away from the highway.
Try the Carlton in Oak Park, IL especially around Lake and Harlem Avenues, there is a Metra Line as well as a Green line that gets you downtown within 10 minutes, it is a very mixed suburb, you might like Elmhurst as well, but it will be about another 15 minutes, yet it’s a quaint town with small shops, look for B&B or hotels near the metra stations, google or yahoo should include them.
