How far is the commute from San Francisco to Sacramento?
My parents live in San Francisco now, and I live in the Sacramento area. She still picks up shifts at a hospital down here though, so she makes the commute almost every other weekend. I can tell you from years of driving up to San Francisco and back that the commute is right at 2 hours.
Of course, this will depend to some extent on traffic. It can run longer if you’re coming down during a busy holiday weekend. If you’re going from Sacramento to San Francisco, you will tend to run into traffic as you hit Vallejo because it’s a busy city. Other than that it’s fine, and a straight shoot from Sacramento to SF. It’s a pretty drive too, I think, especially once you get closer to San Francisco because there are a lot of rolling, open hillsides.
I don’t mean to be rude, but the people who said it’s a 3 hour drive must be making a stop every few miles or driving very very slowly!
