commuter bike handlebars
converting an old ritchey mtn bike to an everyday commuter?

i have an old ritchey ascent comp mtn bike. it is a steel frame with brazens for fenders and i already put on a rear carrier. i also switched out the typical mtn bike wheels for 700cc. still with the flat mtn bike handlebar positioning i get a generous amount of hand fatigue and lower back pain. was wondering if their is away to get a more upright riding stance and also generate Various hand positions. the ritchey has a 1″ stem i’m not sure if that will make things difficult, i think stems are 1″1/2 now. Do not want to spend a fortune (otherwise i would put towards a new bike) but would be willing to spend about $200. thanks for any thoughts. cheers.

get a riser bar and a pr of barends and a cheap aeo bar. shop around shouldn’t cost 200.00. you could also see about a stem 30degree to give you a lil more hieght.
