I am a 5′2 girl deciding on my first road bike. Is the Binachi eros donna too much for a commuter bike?
My budget is $1200 and I want a nice bike to ride up the long hills in Santa Cruz, Ca. I am pretty athletic so I was also thinking of riding long distances. I want to go to my LBS knowing which bikes I got my eye on. Right now I know for sure a women-specific. I was looking at the Specialized women’s bikes too. I would love some advice. Thank you!
From the Bianchi web site: “In Bianchi history, the original “la dama bianca” (“lady in white”) was an elegant companion to Il Campionissimo, Fausto Coppi, in the 1940s and 1950s. Today, the Dama Bianca series is made to honor women who live and love riding. Geometries and other details are designed around women’s distinctive needs, but the bikes are pure Bianchi performance.”
Ahh, Bianchi has such a history.
You may want to check this model out SHE Alu Carbon/Tiagra. You should be able to find it right at your price range. The Eros Donna is a steel framed bike and if you intend on using it for touring as well as commuting the SHE Alu Carbon / Tiagra is lighter.
Both bikes are great machines. It comes to a choice of frame material.
Other women’s specific brands of this quality are, as you mentioned Specialized, Felt, and Trek.
I recommend that you test ride them before you spend that much hard earned cash. When you do, I think you will buy the Bianchi.
