What are some good high school internships?
I am a junior in high school, currently in the IB program, and i was wondering where are some places that would be good internship facilities over the summer. I prefer one in biology/health care or economics/business. I live in the sacramento area, but am also willing to travel, and can commute to areas such as san francisco for non-residential. Any and all help is deeply appreciated! Thank You!
It sounds like an internship would be an excellent experience for you. It can be difficult to line up an internship as a high school student, especially if you live in a part of the country where there may be limited opportunities in your field of interest locally. However, if you’re willing to put in the time and effort you should be able to find a meaningful and rewarding experience.
There are a couple of good online resources available such as Vault (www.vault.com) and FastWeb (www.fastweb.com). You might start your search there. College Confidential (www.collegeconfidential.com) is a good forum for college admissions related discussions that often has internship related posts. You could search there or re-post this question and solicit responses from a more targeted audience.
There are several industry associations, both local and nationally, that you might want to look into for your specific area of interest (try googling “health care industry associations,” for example). These associations often have internship postings.
Finally, you could look into doing an internship program such as Career Explorations (www.careerexplorations.com).
