Is the cost of lunches in the school cafeteria tax deductible for teachers?
I am a teacher in an elementary school, and I commute 30 min. to the school each day. Can I claim the cost of school lunches as a deduction?
No. It is no different than if you went to a fast food place. It is not considered a non-reinburseable employee expense. But there are certain deductions that you can take as a teacher. Go to www.irs.gov and do a search on teacher deductions.
