commuting on a single speed
Buell Blast 500 VS Honda Nighthawk 250??

I am getting my first motorcycle very soon and deciding between a Blast or Nighthawk.
I’m just very confused because Blast has more power having 500 cc, however single cylindered which will heat up faster and stress the motor more than V-twin 250.

My primary use for my first bike would be commuting from street to highways.
Here are some Pros and Cons I Found:
Nighthawk:
Pros- 250cc twin-cylinder, $1000 cheaper than blast
Cons- Max speed @ 60mph, small engine size
Blast:
Pros-Big engine, more stylish, handles highway, more man-ish
Cons- Single cylindered, reliability, $1000 more than honda

so on..
Which do YOU suggest is better?

The Blast doesn’t have much power and is only marginally faster than the 250 Nighthawk. Honda will always be more reliable than a Buell, but it has nothing to do with the number of cylinders.

Either one of these bikes will leave you wanting more very soon. Some people last only a couple months, and some people up to a year, you’ll want to upgrade to a bigger bike very soon.

I would consider something like a Suzuki GS500 or Kawasaki Ninja 500, or even a Kawasaki Vulcan 500 if you like the cruiser style (same engine as Ninja 500 pretty much). These bikes will give you a nice step up in performance from the Blast or Nighthawk while still being completely appropriate for beginners.
