What is the average commuting time by car from Levittown, Long Island, NY to Stamford, Connecticut?
I am considering a relocation to Levittown, Long Island (NY) to be near my girlfriend and also taking up a nice job that is located in Stamford, Connecticut. Google Maps says it’s 1 hour and 5 minutes. Mapquest says it’s 1 hour even. I know Long Island and NYC metro area traffic can get really nasty so I wanted to know if anyone has done this commute or can tell me how long it REALLY takes on average.
How about the tolls?
Any alternative options? I know there is a ferry, but I think it would take longer. And I don’t know of any mass transit options (other than Amtrak, which I believe would take longer than an hour)
BTW, Levittown would be close to Hempstead, Hicksville, Farmingdale, Melville – that general area. And I’d be right off the Hempstead Turnpike (Rt. 24)
Any ideas???
Is this worth it?
Totally not worth it. During rush hour, it would take at least two hours or more, depending on traffic. With no traffic the faster I’ve ever done it (Bethpage-Stamford) was 1 hour 15 min…and with traffic, forget about it. You’d be better off taking the LIRR to Woodside, the 7 to Grand Central, and the Metro-North to Stamford. I guess this could work, but it would take about two hours, maybe a bit more.
