commuting on mountain bike
Best type of bike for commuting? ($150)?

I want to commute about 7 miles every day.
I was looking at mountain bikes but I don’t think they’re the best choice for this commute, they seem too small to be a comfortable ride?

as for road bikes, I don’t think the slick tires are a good idea for Seattle >.> don’t want to slip and fall on the trip!

My price range is approximately $150

Thanks so much for your help guys!

EDIT: if you have a suggestion out of the price range please add it to your response!

If you plan to use your bike every day, your budget is too low. You have to think long term, and about the money you will be saving on other forms of transport. Commuting is hard usage, you will probably be out in bad weather sometimes, and a cheap bike will quickly rust and wear out. Slick tires on road bikes are no worse on wet pavement than tires with tread, the type of rubber compound is what matters. Bike tires don’t hydroplane like car tires, so having no tread is not important. If you spend $150 on a bike, you will soon need to spend another $150 to replace it.
