What’s the difference in carbon footprint of commuting by train, bus, car, plane, and subway?
I’d like to know if any universities or environmental research groups are studying the specifics, so I can get statistics on various modes of transport.
First of all, the ‘carbon footprint’ scam is just that, a scam designed to separate you from your money.
Secondly, even though the much larger engines used in public transport pollute more than the smaller units in personal transports, the large conveyances carry (when fully loaded) more people. Since the larger number of people is now _not_ operating individual cars, the net pollution is less.
For stats, you might try D.O.T. for starters. Look at http://www.usa.gov/ for the portal to loads of federal gov’t services and info.
