How did Oakland become so unsafe when it’s so close to San Francisco?
You would think it would instead get urbanized by rich people who want to commute to San Francisco.
I think Oakland is a ghetto for several reasons:
1. Oakland is one of the few cities in the Bay Area with a lot low income housing. This attracts the wrong people and deters the right people.
2. Oakland has a huge port which employs the union to work in the docks. As we all know, union members aren’t exactly the best people in society. Many of them have criminal records and that’s why they need a union to back them up.
3. The Raiders play there. If you ever happen to go to a Raiders game, check out the tail gate parties. The parking lot looks like a prison yard.
There are probably a ton of other reasons but that’s all I can think of right now. By the way, San Francisco is a ghetto too. Just go to the Bayside District and you’ll see what I’m talking about………..
