commuting to boston from nh
Anyone live in or familar with Nashua NH?

A friend has received a very good job offer in Boston but was considering living in Nashua NH and commuting. Any thoughts on the area? Anything she should know? TIA.

I work in Boston, and I had a friend, in the same office, who commuted from Nashua.

I would advise against this! The commute took them over an hour and a half on a good day, usually closer to two hours on a normal day.

There is a lot of traffic coming into Boston, both by the Pike and by 93 south (the two main roads they would take, depending on their route.) Route 3 is also incredibly congested, and that only gets them to route 95, which is also a mess in the mornings and evening commute.

There is no easy public transportation route, either. The best they could do would be drive to Lowell, MA, park their car, and then take the commuter rail. The rail pass would cost over $180 / month, and it also costs $4 day to park at the commuter rail station. Depending on where they worked in Boston they may have to then get on a different subway after that.

I commute on commuter rail from Readin, MA, which is only 12-13 miles out of the city and it takes me 45 minutes.
