Where is a good place to live somewhere between New Haven, CT and NYC?
I’m looking at a position at Yale and my fiance will be in New York City so I’m wondering what might be a good city in Connecticut to live in. Closer to NYC cuz he’s less patient about commuting than I am and near the trains. Thanks!!
Patrick B., First: maps are misleading. A location may look ideal but not have convenient access to trains or may not be safe or pleasant. That’s why you ask people. Unlike a map they commute and go to grocery stores. Second: If affordable was the primary concern I would have mentioned that in my question.Third: One does not just stroll out and find a new man to marry just because they might have to spend and extra 1/2 hour on the train. That’s why we’re looking for a place in between the two cities. (fiance, not bf, big difference in what you’ll do for each other)
Everyone else, thank you very much for the advice! I’ll be checking out Stamford next time I’m in the NY metro area.
You may want to consider Stamford. That is the midway point for the both of you. Plenty of buses (CT Transit) to get you both to the Stamford Metro-North train station downtown (to either Grand Central and New Haven)
As a matter of you may want to consider living right in downtown Stamford…it’s right where all of the cultural activity is and the Stamford Town Centre shopping mall is right there.
