So you’ve finally worked up the courage to ask her out and she actually said yes. Well that’s great and all, but it’s time to start preparing for the big night if you want it to go smoothly. Now there are some classic date faux pas that I shouldn’t even have to get into, but in case you are completely clueless, like many men prove themselves to be, then you’ll want to take a look at my list below for some helpful tips and pointers.
1. Driving a nice car and then talking about it. Yes it’s great that you have a cool car and hopefully you worked hard for it rather than getting free from Mom and Dad, but no girl wants to hear about how about its great gas mileage or how much those new Mercedes benz parts cost. Be modest about your awesome ride and it will be a lot more impressive.
2. Spending way too much money on the first date. If you decide to pick up the tab for dinner it’ll be a nice chivalrous gesture, but don’t overdo it. Don’t buy her a huge bouquet of flowers, rent a limo and then push the girl to order lobster and champagne. Keep it simple or you’re sure to scare her off, or worse you’ll be dating a gold digger.
3. Playing the guitar. Pulling out your guitar or any other instrument on the first date is just pathetic. Yes it is very attractive to have musical talent, but it’s just going to make her feel awkward and it will be obvious that you are trying to show off. Feel free to touch on the topic, but don’t play it on the first date, even if she asks. Hold off for another night.
4. Dressing in designer duds. Who doesn’t love designer clothes? We all do and when worn modestly with a few non-designer items, it can look great, but if you’re wearing head-to-toe Gucci or Prada, then you’ve gone a little overboard. Take your time and dress well for the date, but you shouldn’t be too flashy.
You date will be great as long as you avoid these cheesy dating blunders. Be modest and charming. Large sums of money and a nice car can’t make up for a defective personality, so read a book instead of staring in the mirror all the time.
