Why is Honolulu never included in US studies of commute times (worst traffic)?
It’s a joke, and not funny. The “worst” one according to their study is Los Angeles with 72 hrs/year stuck in traffic. I know for a fact the typical commuter who works in Honolulu and lives in leeward Oahu would be stuck in traffic at least one hour per day, which would be something like 200 hours per year.

Mainland bias, that’s why.
I’m a “townie” myself so I never have to deal with that much traffic. But I see the “fed-up” in the faces of my co-workers who commute from Aiea/Millilani/Waipahu/Kapolei, they have to be out of the house by 5AM, and they get home from work like around 6PM.
