how to commute in chicago
What are great Chicago suburbs for a young family?

Thinking of moving to Chicago, and trying to determine nice suburbs. Heres what I’m hoping you can provide suggestions based on:

- I would work downtown, but want to live in a close, surrounding suburb.
- I wouldn’t want my commute to be more than 30 minutes, and would hope to live near an El stop.
- Want a friendly, family oriented area with good schools.

THANKS

I live in Skokie. We have an El station.
Skokie is nice, depending on which part, but you should look into areas like Wilmette, Winnetka, Glenview, Kenilworth, and Northfield. Very nice and safe areas with great schools, but also very expensive. I was born in Glenview, and have lived all over this area.

Some places there are also nice, but without such a high cost are Arlington Heights, Des Plaines, and Schaumburg.

Also, I heard Naperville was ranked as one of the best places to live in the US. I haven’t spent much time there, but you should check it out. It’s definitely more than a 30 minute commute though
