What is the current rules on reimbursement?

Am I allowed to claim miles, over and above my usual commute? Where can I find that within the IRS rules?
I know I can claim 44.5 cents/mile..
I am a home health nurse and drive a lot.. my office is 12 miles from my home and a lot of my patients are over and above that.. does anyone know if I go to my patient’s house first and they’re over 12 miles from my house, if I can claim the difference.. Does someone know the exact IRS reference that I can utilize when documenting this to my employer.. please help..thanks..

Go for it. Just make sure when you get audited, you can prove you used your car for anything other than personal use.
