Claiming transportation on taxes? Please Help?

i filed my own taxes for the first time on turbo tax the other day.. and the questions came up on if I used any gas milage for commuting to work, and asked the make and worth of my car, and very detailed questions about my form of transportation … I know that commuting to work isnt deductable unless it is used for you own business, but I am a regular employee and do not own my own business. My tax return seem to be a bit higher then usual, did I make a mistake and will the IRS think i lied on my taxes in thinking I tried to make them believe I owned my own business? Or are those normal questions they ask on turbo tax about gas milage etc???

i just want to know if those are standard questions they ask everyone, or does it only come up if they assume you are a business owner?

I hope i did not make a mistake somehow and end up owing them. if so, what can happen?

TurboTax shouldn’t ask you the details of your car unless it has to. You are doing something wrong. If you end up getting tax refund that’s more than you entitled to, you’ll have to pay back the excess amount plus interests. And you’ll have to prove to the IRS that you did not intentionally overstate your deductions.

I know you want to save money by filing your own taxes but messing up your taxes is going to cost you even more. Find someone to have a second look at it. Fix the problem. File an amended return if you have to.
