jersey city to manhattan commute
What’s the best place to live near Teaneck, NJ?

My wife just got a job there, and we’d love to buy/rent somewhere within commuting distance for her (30 min. or so) and for me (downtown Manhattan).

Her criteria:

1. Nice home/condo/apt. (2+ BR for 300s or 1500/mo.)
2. Easy commute by car (less than 30 min.)
3. Newer development, lawns, parking, etc.

My criteria:

1. Cool neighborhood, with nearby stuff to do at night & good restaurants (I was born & raised in Brooklyn & I know I’m not ready for surburban, cul-de-sac living or the 2.5 kids that usually comes along with it… :)
2. Something north of Hoboken/Jersey City, if possible
3. Easy commute to downtown, preferably by train/light rail

Many thanks in advance to all you thoughtful, helpful folk out there.
Thanks BrookBabe!

ps — MY WIFE’S NAME IS BROOKE!!! NO KIDDING!!!

there are alot of resturants in teaneck so if you live closeby then you can definitely go out to eat there – the two main roads are ceder lane and “the plaza” area — they have alot of different options of resturants.

there are nice towns nearby – there’s fairlawn, bergenfeild, paramus, hackensack… IN teaneck there are bus stops at almost every corner and a bus system that is always on time and reliable. i dont know if any of these places are north of hoboken.. but i know they are right near teaneck.

if you dont want the house with the white picket fence type thing… there is always the option of living in apartments in teaneck or in surrounding areas…
good luck!
