Private or Community College?
I just got accepted into a private 4 year school and I am homeless. I could go full-time and escape living a very hard life living with my parents.
Its a nice Catholic 4 year school. I could maybe see a counselor to sort out the horrible memories of being homeless, its easy to join clubs, make friends, etc. .But i really dont know if debt is a necessity (most people do go into college debt these days). However, i am at a marked disadvantage…since I have no money
However, if I go to a 2 year school, i’m eligible for 2 honors classes ,my spanish teacher is my mentor (and head of the honor society), and I can join the honors club. The gov’t will give me enough grants to go for free. Plus, if i get good grades, the gov’t will give me a “free ride” to attend ANY state institution.
However, I hate my community college campus. I left with debt because I dropped out after the refund date. I dont know if I could “suck it up” and work my ass off.
Can you get a full scholarship for the four year, or work study to help pay the way? That way you would not go heavily into debt. Also, talk to the financial aid department there. When I went I ended up being the dorm monitor so my residence expenses were paid for.
If you already know that you dislike the community college campus, maybe you should strongly consider the 4 year school. Talk to a counselor at each college see what they suggest.
