Thinking of moving to Cheshire? Take a look at the village of Holmes Chapel, which is a nice area to short commuting distance of Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham.
Holmes Chapel, a village in Cheshire. It is small enough, the last population census measured at less than 6000 and it retains an "old fashioned "feel (and I say this in a positive way) from my previous experiences of life in cities and other cities.
Geographically, it is less than one mile from the M6 motorway which means you have easy access to the M6 and the M56 so it is easy to travel to Manchester, Warrington, Crewe, Stoke, Birmingham and of course many places in between and all around. It is also on the Crewe to Manchester becomes if line train to Manchester is fairly easy because the journey takes about 40 minutes. Holmes Chapel station also has a book club and has won many rewards. Compared to stations faceless dark and ransacked the train, you will find in most towns and cities, it's great!
The village has two primary schools, Hermitage and Holmes Chapel Primary, which both have excellent results DFES Ofsted and is therefore an ideal place to move to a better state education for your children. It also has a secondary school and sixth joint center, which again is very highly rated by Ofsted and is particularly strong in science. In other words, if you want to go somewhere outside the city so that your kids can go to good local schools throughout then it is an excellent choice.
For good schools and good opportunities for travel, Holmes Chapel is relatively expensive compared to some large industrialized cities. The cheapest house I've seen in recent months come around of £ 160,000 for a relatively small 2 bedroom terraced house. For a three bedroom semi detached you'd probably be looking ar £ 170-190K and for a 3 bedroom detached house, over £ 230k. There are also many large detached houses with 4 beds in the village, which is currently selling for anything between £ 270k and £ 370k upwards depending on where they are and how they are. It is possible to rent and, and three bedroom houses seem to be available approximately £ 700 per month upwards.
Holmes Chapel has many older residents as much housing was built in the 70 with more than mid-1980 and bought by people as a new move to the region to take advantage of schools, commuting and general friendliness of the environment. Many of these people are now nearing retirement. This means that there is a nice feeling tolerance in place and a stroll in the shops will usually produce a lot of polite smiles, nods and greetings from people you do not really know. Again, a pleasant attitude and the former which was unfortunately lost in many places where people run on fear of attacked or assaulted.
There is a youth club and a recreation center and two private sports and recreational clubs that also offer excellent sporting and social facilities throughout the year. Holmes Chapel also has a library, doctors surgery, dentist and opticians alongside a variety of excellent shops and local businesses.
Overall, if you are looking for a place to commute Warrington to Manchester or where you will find excellent local schools, and Holmes Chapel is an attractive option and deserves a look.
