what does the word commute mean pls?
In mathematics, it means that the order of operations doesn’t matter: for example,
a+b=b+a,
so we say that addition is commutative and that a and b commute under addition. On the other hand
a-b is not the same as b-a,
so subtraction is not commutative.
Addition and multiplication of ordinary numbers are commutative, but multiplication of matrices (for example) is not commutative.
