Wouldn’t you call this an irrational tax, and anyone who supports it a money-grubbing, corrupt politician?
The Commuter Tax- a tax that taxes to death the commuters to NYC (not the residents) for their ability to use the city’s services- such as ambulances, police force, and firefighters. It is able to easily rake in an additional $200 million into the city annually.
How often do commuters to another state use the state’s firefighters, ambulances, or police force? PRACTICALLY NEVER! And look who supports the tax.

Yes, but why should commuters pay for services from a city from another state that they will almost definitely never use?
any tax not used for 1police protection, 2national defense. and 3 public works..is not only irrational, but unconstitutional
