Moving to Arizona in about a year?
I plan on moving to the Phoenix area around this time next year for my job, and I was wondering if anybody had any tips on good areas to look for apartments. Of course I am looking for an area that is relatively safe (there is no perfectly safe place to live) that is easy to commute around, with rents going anywhere from 550 to 650 a month. I hear Chandler is a nice place to live, but is it expensive? Any help or advice that anyone could give me would be great.
Chandler isn’t too expensive. You can probably find some reasonable places in Mesa or Tempe. The most important thing you need to do is to tour the place before you rent. When the housing industry was booming here, a lot of old apartment complexes “remodeled” but really just repainted to make them look good from the outside to attract renter or sell them as condos.
Also, they are installing a light rail system stretching from Phoenix to Mesa that is supposed to open at the end of this year. So if you can nab a place close to the rail now for cheap, that might pay off and make transportation into Phoenix cheap and easy.
