Schiphol Airport to Amsterdam?
I will have about a 6 hour layover at Schiphol in a few weeks. Does that give me time to go into Amsterdam and see anything? Got ideas? What’s the best way via public transportation? Thanks!
Yes, there’s a train station in Schiphol with frequent trains to the city. It takes about 20 minutes by train to Amsterdam Centraal station. Amsterdam Centraal is walking distance to Dam Square. You’ll have time to walk around for around 4 hours and do some sightseeing. You could, for instance, walk to Dam Square, go around the palace and follow the street to the Westerkerk to see the Anne Frank statue. The Anne Frank house is next to the church. From there you can walk around enjoying the canals and canal houses or head toward the Munt tower and the floating flower market, walk through Rembrantplein and then back toward the station on Kalverstraat. There are a lot of options, just make sure you leave early enough get back to the airport, get through security and find the gate for the next flight.
