The cheapest place to live near Massachusets Avenue DC area??????????? Desperately need help please….?
I’m going away to work at Washington DC for three months. I will be working in 2020 Massachusetts Avenue, N.W. Washington DC United States 20036. After I check the google earth, it’s near the Dupont Circle. I need to know the cheapest place to live which is not too far away from the office, because I will be using public transportation. The place should be able to be rented just for three months. I will be all alone, so think a studio will do just fine. I need the area name and price range. Your answer in highly appreciated. ![]()
Thanks heaps!
I would look north of Dupont Circle along Metro’s red line. For a three month rental you’re certainly going to get a better deal if you look for someone needing to sublet their apartment or for someone needing a roommate for a short term. The area around the Tenleytown metro is home to a lot of university students from American University and you might have some luck looking in this area.
A short term lease on a studio in an apartment is going to be extremely expensive anywhere in the city because such rentals are usually aimed at corporate visitors whose bills are being footed by big companies or lobbyists.
The best place to look for short term rentals is Craigslist which I’ve linked below. You can enter the address into the metro trip planner and it will give you an idea how long your commute will be. You may need to adjust the settings to allow for a longer walk to the metro or bus since you will get a cheaper price the further away from the metro you get.
Lastly, I would ask the place you’re going to be working at if they have any ideas for housing. If they routinely bring in people on short term assignments they may have some recommendations to help your search.
