public transportation detroit mi
How dangerous is Detroit?

Next month I’m flying from Houston, TX to Detroit, MI for a concert. My boyfriend and I are only staying for about two days and I plan on renting a car. I assume public transportation might be too dangerous.

Can someone give me some tips and possibly some realistic expectations of the city and location of the venue? The concert is at the Fillmore, formerly State Theatre.

Very Dangerous, I ‘m a former city cop. The city is hiding a lot of stuff. Car break-ins are on the rise, so are muggings, personal theft is the rise.
Hookers at every bus stop and corner. The city is very dirty, the city dump is much cleaner. The main roads in the city are filled with all kinds of garbage, (car parts, etc) The road are also filled with pot-holes, . Park your car in a secure lot. be prepare to pay at least 20 bucks for parking, and there is not a whole of parking either. The drivers are very awful, be care-full most drivers here treat the roads like it is like a NA SCAR race.
DO NOT CARRY A PURSE!
The theater is not that great of venue. Very Dirty and a rude staff. they just recently had a rape ,and a stabbing there. (that was not reported to the public, and it won’t be) Do not have the theater valet park your car. Stay far way form the city bus (very bad drivers) ,do not get on the city bus, they now have Wayne County Sheriffs riding the bus to curb the violence.

can go on and on about the city ,
PLEASE BE CAREFULL!
