public transportation in seattle wa
Safe, Family Friendly suburb near Seattle, WA. ?

We are interested in buying a home near seattle (350K or less). We want it to be safe and are willing to commute up to an hour each way (we will be working for amazon in seattle) as long as we can use public transportation with wifi. Is this reasonable? What suburbs would allow for this?

If you live in the Edmonds area, you could take the train into downtown Seattle. You could also live in Lynnwood (some parts are drivable quickly to Edmonds to catch the train). If you are taking the bus into Seattle from this far away, it will take more than 1 hour. Housing in Seattle and Seattle area suburbs is expensive. I own a townhouse in Seattle – not even downtown and it was 419,000.00 . You will have a hard time finding a house for that price. You can go towards south Seattle / Beacon Hill. The safety is iffy since these are tough neighborhoods. I would look into Beacon Hill – it is becoming more yuppiefied. I would also look into Northgate – I think the communte would be about 1 -1 1/2 hours depending on the type of bus you take.
