Metro Rail Safe?
My friend is visiting LA and she’s planning on getting around using public transportation. Let’s say she checks out a show in Hollywood at night and plans to get back to Long Beach by Metro Rail after that. Is it safe to ride the Metro Rail during late hours? I think I heard somewhere that the blue line is kind of (for the lack of a better word) ghetto. I’ve never been on one so I wouldn’t know, but I am concerned.
Any thoughts?
If you ask my friend who works for MTA he’ll tell you not to ride any trains or buses from stories he’s heard. It hasn’t stopped me from riding them. I’ve riden the Blue line around 10:30/11pm and haven’t had any trouble. Sometimes a homeless guy hops on begging for cash or some idiot will try hitting on you(any time of day). There’s usually plenty of people on the trains so your friend shouldn’t have anything to worry. Much like the other guy said..there’s security(although they aren’t always around). I have never felt unsafe on a bus or train in LA. Just make sure your friend knows about the times trains and buses stop running because not all of them run too late at night.
Taking Public transortation is cheaper than renting a car.
