How is the public transportation in Minneapolis, MN? Any good?
I’m going to Minneapolis for two weeks for a business trip and have to share a company car. I’ve never been there and don’t want to have to rent a car so I am hoping taxi/bus service is pretty good. I’m staying in Eagan and working in Burnsville and I imagine I’ll be wanting to visit area Minneapolis/St. Paul and the Warehouse district. Thanks for your input!
If your hotel in Eagan has an airport shuttle, you can get downtown easily. Take the shuttle to either the airport or Mall of America, and the light rail will whisk you to downtown Minneapolis and the warehouse district. You can also catch a bus at Mall of America to downtown St. Paul. Buses in both cities are frequent and reliable.
Getting to Burnsvilel will be more of a problem. I’d suggest you try the trip planner on the Metro Transit website at http://www.metrotransit.org/ to see how to get where you need to go. Buses in the suburbs are much less reliable. They tend to operate mostly at rush hour, and you may need to make several connections to get where you need to go. Most likely, though, at some point you’ll head through the Mall of America transit center.
