Raleigh North Carolina how is it’s public transportation?
Is Ralegh NC public transportation reliable and safe? And does it cover just the downtown area or to the suburb? What is that best affordable place to live on public transportation in Raleigh NC?
Pretty much all public transportation in the Triangle (Raleigh/Durham/ChapelHill) Metro area are buses.
There are multiple bus agencies. Raleigh’s city bus system CAT (Capital Area Transit) has extensive routes in the downtown and city core, including one free line that circulates downtown. It also has many routes that stretch out to the various reaches of the Raleigh city limits.
The Triangle-wide bus system, Triangle Transit (formerly known as TTA) is what you’d use to go to the neighboring cities of Durham and Chapel Hill, as well as some of the suburbs like Cary. The routes take longer due to distance, and there are longer wait times. But considering what resources they have to go on, they do a decent job.
If you need to rely on public transportation I highly recommend (and urge) you to live as close to the core downtown of Raleigh as possible. There are some good affordable options there, usually in the form of apartments or rental houses…as well as some other homes around the periphery of downtown. (Definitely, by all means, stay inside the Beltline.) Downtownraleigh.org has a good list of housing options in downtown.
