getting to Hollywood Sign?
My roommate needs to figure out how to get to the Hollywood sign using public transportation.
Starting point would be Westwood near UCLA.
Does anybody know a way to get close enough using buses?
How close do you want to get? Just to view it? You can go to Hollywood & Highland and see it, or to the Griffith Observatory. If you want to hike to the road right behind the sign, it’s really impractical to do it by bus.
There is no access at all to the sign itself. There are no public roads to it, and certainly no bus service. It’s not like it’s the Chinese Theater.
The quickest way by bus would be to catch the 720 or 920 express bus from Wilshire and Montana, and go to Fairfax and Wilshire. Then take express bus 780 to Hollywood & Highland. Up on the 3rd level of the Hollywood & Highland complex, there’s a good spot to take a picture of the sign.
